Switch · migration
Switching costs are real and we will not pretend otherwise. The migration path is honest: a parallel evaluation week on the live demo, clear export demands on your current vendor (MechanicDesk, Workshop Software, or spreadsheets), and structured import sequencing — customers and vehicles first, open jobs next, accounting history stays in Xero or MYOB where it belongs. We will not claim certified one-click migration from any vendor until it has been tested with AU design partners.
Primary search intent: migrate from shopmonkey tekmetric
Buyer problem
Vendors oversell "one-click migration" then strand open jobs and parts history mid-week.
Why Workshop Wrench
Live multi-tenant demo with owner, advisor, and tech logins — evaluate real workflows before touching production data.
Honest compare pages against MechanicDesk, Workshop Software, and others — no fake #1 badge claims.
Structured import sequencing: customers and vehicles first, open jobs next — operational continuity before history depth.
Accounting history stays in Xero or MYOB; we do not trap GL records or require you to re-enter historical invoices.
OpenAPI and webhook path for shops that need a custom bridge during a parallel-run week.
Capabilities
Live means in the multi-tenant product/demo. Integrations: Live / Stub / Dry-run / Planned — never Connected for stubs.

FAQ
FAQ schema included for search. Updated when ship status changes.
Prioritise customers, vehicles, open jobs, and parts catalogue. Deep accounting history should remain in your ledger tool. We will not claim certified one-click from every vendor until tested with design partners.
Export checklist
Before migration day, get these exports in hand. Most vendors provide CSV or Excel on request — some charge for it or need notice. Start this the moment you decide to evaluate.
Name, phone, email, and consent flags if you hold marketing opt-ins.
Rego/VIN, make/model/year, mileage records, and past service notes. This is your retention gold — demand a structured export, not a PDF summary.
All jobs currently on the board or booked in — status, lines, parts reserved, assigned tech. Do not leave these mid-flight.
SKUs, quantities on hand, reorder levels, and supplier codes. If you hold meaningful inventory, this import protects your first week of production.
Any purchase orders placed but not yet received. Know what is en route before you cut over.
Do not attempt to migrate GL records, paid invoices, or BAS history into the workshop OS. Leave the ledger in your accounting tool where it belongs.
Parallel-run timeline
Run both systems in parallel for two weeks — one to close out, one to build trust. Do not cut over until the new board has run real jobs from intake to invoice without you needing to switch tabs.

Honest limits
We will not claim one-click migration from any vendor until it has been tested with AU design partners. These categories require manual steps or should stay in their original system.
Historical invoice PDFs
Paid invoice PDFs from your old system are not re-ingested into Wrench. Keep them in your accounting tool (Xero/MYOB) or archive folder. They are not needed for current operations.
Internal notes in proprietary formats
Free-text job notes, technician memos, and SMS threads stored inside closed vendor databases are rarely exportable in structured form. Expect to lose this context or transcribe the most important records manually before cutover.
Full GL and BAS history
Do not attempt to replicate years of general ledger entries inside the workshop OS. This is your accounting tool's job — Xero, MYOB, or QBO. Wrench handles forward invoicing from the repair order.
Supplier-specific catalogue data
Custom pricing agreements and punch-out data from Repco Navigator or Burson EzyParts accounts are not portable to Wrench today. AU supplier catalogue adapters are on the integration roadmap — not live connected.
Migration
Do not cut over mid-week WIP. Complete these steps before production data moves.
