“I had tried two other systems and walked away from both. One was too complex. One was too simple. Workshop Wrench was the first one where I could hand a tablet to a tech on day three and they figured it out without asking me anything.”

The challenge
Melbourne Tyre King has been fitting tyres in Dandenong for eight years. Tony Malouf runs a tight operation — five bays, five techs, no administration staff. Every quote, job card, and invoice is handled by Tony or one of his senior technicians alongside their regular workshop duties.
Tony had tried two workshop management systems before. The first was an enterprise product designed for dealerships — it took three months to configure and the techs never adopted it. The second was a basic app with no GST invoicing and no parts integration, which meant Tony was still printing templates and running EzyParts in a separate browser tab. He cancelled both within three months and went back to paper.
By mid-2025, parts errors were becoming a serious cost. Incorrect part numbers being ordered against job cards, returned freight charges, and the time lost chasing suppliers were adding up to roughly six mistakes per week. Tony calculated he was losing around $400 per week in returns and rework labour — not counting the customer dissatisfaction from delayed completions.
The solution
Workshop Wrench's onboarding team ran a parallel-run period of five working days alongside Melbourne Tyre King's existing paper process. During that time, jobs were recorded in both systems. By day five, the paper cards were the backup — not the primary record. By day seven, they were gone entirely. The shop did not close for a single day during the transition.
EzyParts integration lets Tony's techs search and order parts directly from the open RO. The part number, description, and price pull automatically into the invoice line — no manual entry, no browser tab switching. Stock is reserved on order confirmation. Returns require a credit note raised in Workshop Wrench, which creates the paper trail for the supplier.
Melbourne Tyre King handles a mix of mechanical and tyre-only jobs. Workshop Wrench's inspection templates were configured to include tyre condition assessments — tread depth per corner, pressure, and sidewall condition. Photos attach directly to the RO. Customers see the same report via the portal before they approve additional work.
